Visual identity, campaign and print by Mucho for San Francisco based LGBT film festival Frameline 41.

Frameline is an American nonprofit arts organisation and the world’s longest running LGBTQ film festival. Frameline continues its mission, since its founding in 1977, to change the world through the power of gay cinema, and to connect filmmakers with audiences locally and internationally. Graphic design studio Mucho worked with Frameline on its visual identity and campaigns for its 40th and 41st LGBTQ film festivals, delivering a system based around a framing device. This links membership cards, stationery and business cards, as well as campaign specific materials such as individual event invitations, posters and tote bags.

Enea by Clase bcn, Spain

Visual identity and stationery for furniture design and manufacturing business Enea designed by Clase bcn

Enea is a contemporary furniture manufacturer, located in Spain’s Basque Country, collaborating with respected designers such as Josep Lluscá, Gabriel Teixidó and the trio Lievore Alhterr Molina. Enea has a distinctive catalogue of versatile, comfortable and durable products, developed for both the private and commercial markets, with unique character in their play with form, colour and texture.

With a desire to differentiate itself from its competitors, and with the intentions of avoiding industry clichés, Enea worked with Barcelona-based graphic design studio Clase bcn to create a new visual identity that would articulate, through image and type, colour and materiality, the company’s Basque origin and unique products in a distinctive and contemporary fashion and, using a striking spartan style, reference industrial manufacturing.

The project extended to business cards, brand guidelines, product brochures and company catalogue, and was launched alongside Enea’s latest range which coincided with the Milan Furniture Fair.

This post, an update to the original from 2015, features all new project images, a more extensive look at art direction, stationery and both product and company brochures, photographed as part of Clase bcn’s new website.

Endgame: Duchamp, Chess, and the Avant-Garde by Hey

Visual identity and print by Hey for the exhibition Endgame: Duchamp, Chess, and the Avant-Garde at Fundació Joan Miró

Endgame: Duchamp, Chess, and the Avant-Garde was a temporary exhibition that took place at Barcelona’s Fundació Joan Miró between October 2016 and January 2017. It was curated by Manuel Segade, explored the history of modern art through the lens of its relationship to chess, and featured a variety of works by 20th century artist. These included Marcel Duchamp’s La Partie d’échecs, Max Ernst’s Chess Set, and Mercè Rodoreda’s Untitled (Composition IX), amongst many others. Fundació Joan Miró commissioned Spanish graphic design studio Hey to develop a visual identity for the exhibition. This linked a variety of printed materials, from large format posters, banners and indoor signage to opening night invitations and a programme set in four languages.
