The Best of BP&O — May 2017

May’s highlights included Requena & Capdevila’s campaign work for Sant Jordi Festival 2017, Socio Design’s packaging for luxury accessory brand Chaos, Band’s custom typeface for restaurant Hill Of Grace and Lundgren+Lindqvist’s continued work with O/O Brewing. There were, however,  five projects that stood out, and have made it into BP&O’s Best Of Series. These typically balance a strong singular concept, or an appropriate confluence of ideas, with a compelling aesthetic and clear communicative intention that appropriately plays with form, colour, type and layout, as well as material, texture, image and print finish.

Throughout May, BP&O also continued to expand on its collections series as another way to jump through to older posts on the site. New additions include Brand Guidelines, Business Cards No.15, and Pastels in Branding.

The Best of BP&O — April 2017

April’s highlights included Midday’s packaging for fermented raw food company Hurly Burly and Here Design’s brand identity work for London-based for catering company Rocket. However, there were five projects that stood out, and have made it into BP&O’s Best Of Series.

This feature brings together some of the most thoughtful and distinctive projects published on BP&O each month for another opportunity to be seen and shared. These typically balance a strong concept with a compelling aesthetic and clear communicative intention that appropriately plays with form, colour, type and layout, as well as material, texture, image and print finish.

Throughout April, BP&O expanded on its collections series, as another way to jump through to older posts on the site. New additions include Black & White, Art Galleries & Exhibitions, Branding & Interiors, and Menu Boards.

Niche Wine Co. — Somm by Frost, Australia

Packaging design by Sydney-based Frost for Niche Wine Co.'s limited edition release Somm, an Australian Shiraz

Somm is a limited edition Australian Shiraz from Niche Wine Co., a winery that embraces an innovative dry farming process that yields fewer yet higher quality grapes with an intensity of flavour and colour. With a desire to convey an established, old vineyard feel, and a sense of heritage and sophistication, Niche Wine Co. worked with Sydney-based studio Frost to develop a name and wine label design.

Inspired by the sommelier, a trusted and knowledgeable figure in the world of wine, Frost developed an idea based around the sommelier’s notebook, literally translating the spontaneity, insight and personable qualities of this directly onto label and tissue paper, then packaging bottle into bespoke wooden box.
