Spirit is a restaurant located on Rotterdam’s Mariniersweg street that sells fresh, organic and vegetarian foods throughout the day. The restaurant’s visual identity, designed by Studio Beige, neatly juxtaposes the formality and geometric qualities of an uppercase Brandon Grotesque typographical choice with traditional underlines, alongside finer, organic and hand rendered illustrative detail executed across a colour palette and uncoated substrate selection, that like the illustrations, add a crafted sensibility. This is cut through by the professionalism and good quality associated with the kitchen whites of a chef but tempered slightly by a conversational tone of voice. It is a smart contrast that delivers a sense of high quality and creativity to a growing but still niche sector often perceived as bland but wholesome.

Christopher Elliott is an Australian interior designer based in Melbourne with a modern luxurious and clean architectural style. His new visual identity, created by Studio Brave, neatly unifies and communicates the practicality and functionality expected of modern architectural spaces and the fine detailing and high quality of the fabrics, fixtures and furniture that fill these. This is achieved through the juxtaposition of the tall and light uppercase and reductionist forms of a mono-spaced logo-type, light monolinear shapes, plenty of space and the grid-based layout of the website, set alongside the very classic qualities of a tactile, letterpressed, cream, uncoated substrate, gold metallic spot colour and the gilded edges of Christopher’s business card.

Whisky Ambassador is an Accredited, UK-based one-day training course that introduces bar staff and license holders to the techniques of effective Scotch whisky selling. Based around a simple monogram and sans serif logo-type combination delivered as an emboss and metallic spot colour treatment across tactile and uncoated material choices, design studio O Street’s visual identity for Whisky Ambassador – a recent start-up – aims to appear authoritative to the international luxury hospitality sector.
