Taking inspiration from the work of artist Edward Hopper, and the style of the American diners of the 1920s and 1930s, Mexican design studio Anagrama developed an interior and visual identity design for Orson, a restaurant in the city of San Pedro pairing burgers with a wide selection of wines and milkshakes. The project, alongside a distinctive interior design of material detail, contrasting colour and form, also included menus, packaging, business cards, and beer mats.

Yumn is a casual luxury restaurant located within Croydon’s Boxpark, a pop-up mall for independent and global fashion and lifestyle stores, cafes and restaurants, housed within converted shipping containers. Yumn is a smaller and more intimate version of Yumn Brasserie with a similar approach to interior in its mix of blue pinned leather upholstered seating and high quality finishes, but shares something of Boxpark’s utilitarian build in its unpolished concrete walls, some of its fixtures and fittings and the industrial qualities of its brand identity, created by Brighton-based graphic design studio Filthymedia. This included menus and business cards, window graphics and signage.

Well Coffee by Bond, Finland

Brand identity and coffee cups by Bond for Helsinki-based vegetarian café Well Coffee

Well Coffee is a new vegetarian café in the centre of of the Finnish capital of Helsinki. It has a distinctive interior of steel frames and wood surfaces, exposed concrete walls, drilled and CNC cut panels of circles, large menu board, marine lamps and potted plants. These blend the current and utilitarian with the more welcoming. Scandinavian graphic design studio Bond worked with the café on brand identity. This included illustration and custom typography, implemented as signage, across packaging and throughout website. These are linked by wave-like elements, inspired by the symbol associated with cafe’s location in Kaivopiha, and recurring circular detail that makes a connection with interior design.
