Trika by Bunch, United Kingdom

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Trika is an interior design company, working on both public and private spaces, with a showroom and studio in the Croatian capital of Zagreb. They represent furniture and equipment manufacturers such as Billiani, Enea and Federicia, amongst many others, whose brand names are described as being synonyms for quality, comfort and design.

Graphic design studio Bunch worked with Trika to develop a new brand identity. This included logotype, business cards, notebooks, tote bag and website. Bunch’s work frames some lovely project photography and distils down modern contemporary interior and furniture design into a simple and functional graphic expression, elevated by material detail.

Erik Penser Bank Cookbook by Bedow, Sweden

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Cookbook Christmas gift by Bedow for Erik Penser Bank 2016

Erik Penser Bank provides its clients with independent financial advice and a high-level of personal service. While large banks do provide similar services, Erik Penser Bank is Sweden’s only dedicated private banking business.

Professionalism, experience and an individualised service practice is expressed throughout the bank’s visual identity, created by Bedow, in the personable and less corporate association and aesthetic qualities of a new monogram. This then informs some distinctive pictograms, is paired with a custom typeface and set across uncoated papers and boards.

Bedow continue to work with Erik Penser Bank, drawing its brand identity across a Christmas gift for the bank’s clients; a cookbook that holds eighteen recipes from the resident chef. Titled Matnyttiga råd, this is a limited edition 130×210 mm hardbound book of 32 pages with a green fabric cover and a white block foil print finish.

The True Honey Co. by Marx Design, New Zealand

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Brand identity and packaging by Marx Design for The True Honey Company, a New Zealand-based business specialising in mānuka honey

The True Honey Company (TTHC) dedicates itself to the production of mānuka honey, a monofloral variety produced in Australia and New Zealand from the nectar of the mānuka tree. It has a unique colour and texture, and a high level of Dietary Methyglyoxal, an organic compound with antibacterial and antiviral properties.

With a price range starting at 60.00AUD and rising to 230.00AUD per jar, and working in a market flooded with sub-standard honey and dishonest marketing, communicating the value of product and the commitment of TTHC to quality and ethical production through an impactful and engaging brand identity and packaging design was paramount. This task was given to Auckland-based graphic design studio and packaging specialists Marx Design who collaborated with Think Packaging and writer Kate Phillips.
