Visual identity and annual report design by Garbett for CareerTrackers, a charitable organisation that addresses Indigenous disadvantage by developing professional career pathways

CareerTrackers is an Australian nation-wide charitable organisation that addresses Indigenous disadvantage by developing professional career pathways, internship programs and links with private sector employers for Indigenous university students. It does this through a model adapted from an African-American internship program which has a proven legacy of 45 years. This is based on an approach that sees students intern with sponsoring companies with the intention of converting them into full-time employees following their university degree.

Sydney-based studio Garbett worked with CareerTrackers to develop a visual identity for the organisation’s report and Gala Awards evening which included banners, information cards and awards. These are united by a striking and modern yet referential coalescence of form and multi-colour, and an element of the structural.

Branding for sports and fashion retailer The Practical Man by Australian graphic design studio Garbett

The Practical Man is an online retail destination for men’s sports style and fitness, activewear and equipment, but also editorial content that covers reviews, fitness-focused travel guides and in-depth insight into new brands. It curates a catalogue of world-leading products that exist at the intersection of fashion and sports performance, designed by innovative and passionate brands with progressive approaches.

Australian graphic design studio Garbett worked with The Practical Man to develop a brand identity and visual language that would expresses their unique perspective on men’s performance style. This extended to swing tags, business cards, packaging, a series of still life images and website developed by Sons & Co.

Investec 2014 Team Conference designed by Garbett

International banking specialist and asset management group Investec’s 2014 annual team conference took place in Port Douglas, a coastal town located in the tropical north of Queensland, home to the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest of Daintree and Cape Tribulation.

The conference’s identity, designed by Sydney-based Garbett, draws on themes of travel, tropical destination and for the most part avoids any hint of corporate convention. This is achieved through simple geometric illustrations across beach towels and tote bags, a bright colour palette, the generosity of dyed papers, die cut detail to create luggage tags and a passport-like notebook and the dual nature of the language choice. The result is a playful summer holiday aesthetic with a practical edge.
