Visual identity and catalogue for SeMA exhibition Highlights by Studio fnt, South Korea

Highlights is an exhibition of works from French contemporary art museum The Collection of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain at the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA). The exhibition runs from May 30th to August 15, 2017, features work by artists such as Ron Mueck, David Lynch and Sarah Sze, and also includes commissioned pieces and major artworks by Korean artists.

Highlights is curated by Fondation Cartier and SeMA, set over three floors with spaces for discovery, contemplation and wonder, and features a visual identity by South Korea graphic design firm Studio fnt. This is characterised by a mix of bright colour, silver block foil print finish and a linear graphic device that connects Korean and English. This is used to link posters and exhibition brochure, catalogue, banners, signage, super graphics and tote bag.

Offline visual identity and product design for South Korean network tvN designed by Studio fnt.

Total Variety Network (tvN) is a South Korean nationwide television network, founded in 2006, that offers a wide variety of general entertainment programming. tvN recently worked with Studio fnt on the creation of an offline visual identity for its store, expressed through its products, a mix of office stationery and furniture. These include adhesive notes and notebooks, pen and business card holders, wrapping paper, tote bags and tape, iPhone covers, tables and storage. There is broad variety to these yet they share a commonality in the use of simple geometric forms drawn from the angles of the tvN logo and interpreted both graphically and structurally.

Brand identity, illustration and brochure by Studio fnt for 20th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, South Korea

Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) is an eleven day event that takes place each year in a number of locations throughout the South Korean city of Bucheon, a satellite city of Seoul. It celebrates world cinema; specifically those dealing with the themes of love, fantasy and adventure, plays host to international, Asian and national premieres, and includes, alongside the 320 films from 49 countries, a variety of performances, concerts and art and design exhibitions that draw their inspiration from the films being screened.

BIFAN 2016 is the largest festival to date, and features a revised brand identity, designed by Studio fnt. This reaches across a plethora of printed materials that include, by are not limited to, posters, banners, merchandise, tickets, signage and a catalogue to promote its 20th anniversary.

These are linked a by a new logo, the “Cell Of Fantasy”, that hints at the expansion of BIFAN’s fantastic imagination, and implies a close connection with opposing visual cues, such as yin and yang, in order to stimulate the eyes and the creativeness of the audience. This is paired with a graphic system of shapes and illustration that intend to express the energy, adventure and imagination of an event unlike any other.
