Tangent GC Soap by Carl Nas Associates, United Kingdom

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Campaign image by London-based Carl Nas Associates for Tangent GC's latest range of organic soaps

Tangent GC is a Scandinavian organic garment and shoe care company developing products that intend to ensure longevity. The company’s brand identity, a simple utilitarian typographical expression, designed by Essen International, delivered a sense of informational immediacy through the absence of superfluous stylistic detail and colour, dividing content in the arrangement, orientation and typesetting of Akkurat Mono.

Venturing into organic personal skincare, Tangent GC worked with London-based Carl Nas Associates to build on the visual language laid down by Essen International, with a similar approach to packaging, whilst introducing a beta version of Akkurat Mono Bold and a launch campaign of dynamic image that makes a connection with the brand’s beginnings, visualising fragrance as swirling fabric. This post was updated October 2017 with more campaign and packaging images as TangentGC launch new products.

Stevenson Systems by Socio Design, United Kingdom

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Logo and business cards by London-based Socio Design for space accounting specialist Stevenson Systems

Stevenson Systems is an American business that specialises in ‘space accounting’, an industry that measures architectural spaces using a variety of laser scanning and measuring devices, goes on to classify areas within larger spaces and produces reports and offers consultation on how to draw the most value from these.

Stevenson Systems pride themselves on their ability to add value, rather than just delivering data, and providing their clients with an array of services that look at the complete lifecycle of a building, from purchase through development and finally to sale. The company is a leader in its field, a position it has held since its foundation in 1986, however, its brand identity fell short articulating this authority amongst a crowd of newer competitors.

London-based Socio Design recently worked with Stevenson Systems to develop a brand identity that would counter the perception that they just measured buildings and would communicate an authority. The studio was responsible for strategy, logo and iconography design, stationery, brand guidelines, art direction and website, both design and build. Underpinning this rebrand is a new mission statement “Discovering Hidden Value”.

Linden Staub by Bibliothèque, United Kingdom

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Logo and business cards with gold foil and embossed detail for UK model agency Linden Staub by Bibliothèque.

Linden Stuab is a UK-based model agency challenging industry conventions with their mantra ‘Empowering Women’, and by acting as a mother agency to all of their models. The name Linden Staub, derived from the maiden names of the two founding partner’s mothers, is an expression of this, and alongside the agency’s strong human-focus, was the basis for their new brand identity, created by graphic design studio Bibliothèque. This links a variety of collateral, from stationery and business cards to model cards, tote bags and a new digital platform that takes a journal-like approach to content.
