Visual identity and flyers designed by Requena featuring illustration by Olga Capdevila for Sant Jordi Festival 2017

Sant Jordi Festival is an annual celebration that combines culture and romance, and takes place in the city of Barcelona on April 23rd. The festival honours Sant Jordi, the patron saint of lovers in Catalonia, is rooted in the legend of Sant Jordi and the dragon, and in the tradition of visiting the Chapel of Sant Jordi at Government Palace where a rose fair used to take place. In celebration, couples, friends and family exchange gifts of books and roses, bought at flower and book stalls set up along the streets of the city.

The historical legacy and legend of Sant Jordi, as well as the traditions that sprung up around these, are brought to life by Spanish design studio Requena, with the help of Olga Capdevila, in a series of illustrations. These capture the roses and books, history and celebratory air of the event, and are used as a strong focal point throughout the festival’s visual identity. This links large format posters and banners, flyers, flags and bookmarks.

Luxury lifestyle accessory packaging design featuring Colorplan papers and boards by Socio Design for Chaos

Inspired by fashion’s current fascination with customisation, technology and a “sense of light-hearted fun”, creative duo and stylists Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall created Chaos, a new UK luxury lifestyle brand producing limited edition and personalised tech and travel accessories.

Through form and finish, materiality and graphic design, Chaos products, which include phone cases and charms, zips and luggage tags, express the brand’s take on practicality and stylistic desirability, the meeting of technology and fashion, utility and individuality. These are high quality, with a price tag to match (between £76-214), and a favourite with actors Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie.

London-based studio Socio Design were commissioned by the team at Chaos to create packaging for their collection of deerskin phone cases and luggage tags, gold-plated charms and zips. Using contrasting colour and high quality production detailing, and playing with a tension between the modern and traditional, the digital world and the analogue, these reflect the brand’s playful and “anarchic” approach, and commitment to challenging contemporary luxury standards.

Interior, print and packaging designed by Bond for Helsinki-based coffee shop, roastery and barista institute Paulig Kumla

Paulig Kulma is distinctive space, located in the heart of Helsinki, developed by Paulig, the leading coffee brand in the Nordics. It combines a coffee shop, roastery and barista institute, and intends to appeal to a broad customer group, and accommodate a variety use cases throughout the day.

Paulig Kulma serves multiple functions. From the inviting and flexible space of the coffee shop, to the industry and craft of the roastery, and the creativity and process taught at the barista institute. Although these exist within separate areas, interior design and brand identity, created by Scandinavian design studio Bond, brings these together as a continuous, integrated and rich brand experience, in print across business cards, coffee packaging and labelling, as interior graphics, menu boards and lighting, and in the choice of furnishings, fixtures and fittings.
