Branding by New York-based design studio Franklyn for innovative product design company OTHR

OTHR creates unique objects that take advantage of new production methods and materials, and brings together the world’s best designers and transformative technologies. OTHR’s objects exist at a point where art and design intersect, are simple, practical but desirable in form, and are manufactured and individually numbered to order in a way that has minimal environmental impact.

OTHR designers include British designer Sebastian Bergne, Claessen Koivisto Rune from Stockholm and New York studio Todd Bracher. These designers contribute to a diverse catalogue of objects for juicing, cutting and holding, and share the philosophy of owning fewer but better things.

With simplicity at the centre, New York-based graphic design studio Franklyn created a new brand identity and delivery system to compliment the extraordinary nature of OTHR’s products. This included logotype and logo design, and extended to illustration, packaging and posters.

Brand identity and print for furniture manufacturer Arco by Raw Color, The Netherlands

Arco is a family run contemporary furniture design and manufacturing company that currently rests in the hands of fourth generation family members, and has a respectable 110 year history. Arco has tables and chairs at the heart of its collection and specialises in woodwork, a reflection of its location in Winterswijk, an area of dense natural woodland in East Netherlands.

Eindhoven-based graphic design studio Raw Color worked with Arco Creative Director Jorre van Ast to revise the company’s brand identity, with a focus on its unique location and local production. This is expressed through the documentation of the surrounding area, the factory and its craftsmen. While the logotype remains the same, Raw Color delivered a compelling visual identity that juxtaposes solid colour and seasonal image, and uses contemporary type to deliver a collective tone of voice. This extends across and links a variety of print communication that includes business cards, leaflets, brochures, catalogues and postcards.

Elements is the latest spout and handle range from Brooklyn-based boutique brassware business The Watermark Collection. It features 15 metal finishes, 3 handle designs and 19 hand-crafted covers. These make up a potential quarter of a million possible combinations. The modularity, materiality and variety of Elements is drawn on and expressed through a visual identity created by British design studio dn&co, which then plays out across a range of distinctive brochure covers.

Branding for American laminate brand Prism by Atlanta based graphic design studio Matchstic

Prism is a new thermally fused laminate brand from Arauco—a global manufacturer of sustainable wood products—created to appeal to the art and design market currently dominated by well-known brands. Arauco worked with American graphic design studio Matchstic to develop a brand identity for Prism that would communicate the value of a product often perceived as low-value within a market that often favours reclaimed woods and other solid materials.
