Visual identity and invitation for children's online retailer Maisonette by Lotta Nieminen Studio New York

Maisonette is an American online retailer of luxury children’s brands, founded by former Vogue co-workers Sylvana Durrett and Luisana Mendoza Roccia. The retailer carries a carefully selected yet extensive catalogue of clothing, homeware, gifts and accessories that mixes local up-and-coming brands with those that are well-established and international.

Maisonette’s visual identity, designed by New York based Lotta Nieminen Studio, intends to balance and juxtapose a sense of play and a modern sophistication though scribbles and their arrangement and colour, a simple outline logo, similar logotype and a gold block foil finish. These link a variety of assets that include swing tags, stationery, business cardspackaging and website.

This is one of a number of recently documented projects designed over the last few years and uploaded to the Lotta Nieminen Studio website last week. Also check out Rent The Runway, and Cienne.

Loyal Coffee by Mast, United States

Opinion by Richard Baird

Illustrated coffee cups and visual identity design by Mast for barista-run and Colorado-based Loyal Coffee

Loyal Coffee is a barista-owned and operated specialty coffee shop located in Colorado Springs. It features a high ceiling, exposed beams and concrete surfaces, natural material detail such as tree trunk stools, and crafted finishes that include a mosaic floor, carved wood panel and what looks like a ghost sign. Drawing on this, the surrounding landscape, and the loyal bond that the six founders share, design studio Mast created a visual identity for Loyal Coffee. This is built around landscape references, the crafted details but geometric foundations of custom typography, and a modernity in colour and in the assembly of individual graphic elements online and in print across coffee cups, packaging, merchandise, menus.

MOAA Architects by Inhouse, New Zealand

Graphic identity and branded notepads by In-house for New Zealand's MOAA Architects

MOAA Architects was founded in 2010. It has an office in Hamilton, New Zealand, and a portfolio of new builds and renovations that span the residential, education, commercial and public sectors. Highlights include their work on St. Johns Church, a square plan rotated 9 degrees off the street grid, and Piako House, a renovation and extension of 1940s domestic planning to meet a 21st century lifestyle.

MOAA Architects have a passion for ideas and people. An ethos rooted in reduction and a responsiveness to client needs. And an approach that seeks out innovation yet remains friendly and accessible. This is expressed by a flexible new graphic identity of modular play and variety, and a bright yellow and cool grey colour palette designed by Inhouse. This post was updated November 2017 to include images of Inhouse’s work on MOAA Architect’s website.
