Alquimie designed by Thought Assembly

Logotype and white ink, warm grey business card designed by ThoughtAssembly for quarterly beverage magazine Alquimie

“Released quarterly as a printed magazine, Alquimie is a written emulsion of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Covering wine, beer, spirits, bitters, coffees and other solutions of interest; Alquimie explores the liquids themselves — their origins and stories. Working with photographer James Morgan, the inaugural edition of Alquimie included over 160 images across 152 pages.” – Alquimie

Melbourne based graphic design and visual communications studio ThoughtAssembly, responsible for developing and managing Alquimie’s name, brand identity, print and art direction, utilise the thick white ink and warm concrete grey substrate of the business cards, a traditional, open, hand-sewn detail of the magazine, tinted photography and the well spaced uppercase serif characters of the logotype to hint at the history and craft the publication looks to uncover, its authority and high quality.

The Town Mouse by A Friend Of Mine

Logo, menu and business card design by A Friend Of Mine for The Town Mouse

And a daytime night-time duality – perhaps a reference to the bar/restaurant proposition – of a black and cream colour palette, enhanced by the really neat use of photo-luminescent ink across their business cards.

Packaging design by Cloudy Co. for Yarra Valley boutique wine label Jamsheed

Melbourne-based design studio Cloudy Co. have recently developed the labels and visual identity for Yarra Valley boutique wine label Jamsheed, ‘named after a Persian king who according to ancient writings had a fondness for storing fresh grapes in jars, thus leading to the discovery of wine’. The packaging solution expands on the name and communicates a sense of bold flavour and craft through geometric, Persian pattern work executed with a heavy, contemporary, single and consistent line weight, the high quality and tactile detail of a lovely thermographic ink treatment and a simple variation in crop and colour dividing each variety.
