Brand identity and brochure design by Studio Brave for East Melbourne residential property development George + Powlett

George + Powlett is a residential property development of 11 apartments, created by ICON Developments, and located in East Melbourne. ICON’s properties are described as having a precision and balance, and this continues through to their latest project, which was designed by acclaimed architectural practice Powell & Glenn. The development is set within an environment of what is described as a place of elegant contrasts. This can bee seen in the strong geometric forms of structure, and the surrounding leafy suburb of East Melbourne. Balanced contrast informs brand identity, designed by Studio Brave, with each element said to express the seamless connection between environment and structure. This connects brochure, material sample pack, foldout floor plan and website.

Lundén Architecture Company by Tsto, Finland

Logotype and business cards by Finnish studio Tsto for Helsinki-based Lundén Architecture Company

Lundén Architecture Company is a Helsinki-based design studio developing innovative structures, infrastructures and spaces. The studio, through their knowledge of strategic development, experimental building technology and urban design, drawn from their collaborations with experts from different fields, offer proposals that affect the future of the built environment. Projects have included a new school and community complex that inspires learning during the day and functions as a meeting place, workshop area and community space during the evening, and an infrastructure proposal that reconsider airport terminal systems for Finland’s air transportation network.

Lundén Architecture Company’s brand identity, developed by Finnish graphic design studio Tsto, is based around a logotype that acknowledges the fragility of structure and the notion that its deterioration begins as soon as it is completed. This is expressed through the breaking apart and reassembly of logotype. This runs across business cards and stationery in a static but transitory state, and in motion online.

Artek Helsinki by Tsto, Finland

Brand identity and shopping bags by graphic design studio Tsto for furniture and homeware store Artek Helsinki.

Artek is a Finnish furniture and product design business and retailer with a flagship store in Helsinki. It was founded in 1935 by architect Alvar Aalto and wife Aino Aalto, the arts promoter Maire Gullichsen and art historian Nils-Gustav Hahl.

Artek grew alongside and shared many of the qualities of the  20th century modernist movement, blending art and technology, and making the most of improved technical expertise in mass manufacturing to produce well-crafted and functional products from good quality materials for everyday living. The company has remained true to these values, and its 2nd cycle initiative, a platform for reselling Artek furniture, is a testament to the aesthetic and material longevity of its products.

Artek worked with Scandinavian graphic design studio Tsto to build out the visual identity system of their flagship store, Artek Helsinki. The studio’s approach layers this system with additional type, illustration created from the partial forms of Artek’s product range and establishes a new set of visual guidelines. This runs across and links tags, stationery, business cards, packaging, magazine covers and shopping bags.
