Bespoke by DIA, United States

Brand identity, custom typeface and business cards by New York based DIA for boutique retouching business Bespoke

Bespoke is a New York-based boutique digital retouching company working within the fashion industry and moving into its tenth year of business. With a desire to appeal to an increasingly more commercial clientele while not undermining their roots Bespoke commissioned graphic design studio DIA to develop a new brand identity. With a strong favour for contrast; in colour, proportion and type, DIA establish a bold visual expression for Bespoke that, aside from acknowledging past clients and with an eye for future ones, intends to help them stand out from their competitors. This runs across stationery, business cards and tote bags, down the side of portfolio pages, and sitting well at the foot of Bespoke’s new website.

On Rye by Pentagram’s Michael Bierut, United States

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Brand identity and print by Pentagram for Washington DC sandwich shop On Rye

On Rye is a fast-casual sandwich shop, with a space in the US capital of Washington DC, inspired by the Jewish deli. It has a menu of unexpected recipes that dial down the salt and bumps up the veggies, uses natural and wholesome ingredients, and gives traditional dishes a modern twist. On Rye has an interior that brings a contemporary finesse to retrospective detailing and features a brand identity designed by Pentagram partner Michael Bierut and his team. Brand identity functions on a few different levels. It works as an expression of On Rye’s wholesome menu, honours the origins of the Jewish deli in the US and adds to interior using contrast, in the weight and shape of type, the brightness of colour and the playful qualities of photography within a space of material detail and traditional fixtures and fittings. The project included business cards, menus, wall-coverings, signage and website.

Sauvage by Triboro, United States

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Branding and illustrated menu by New York design studio Triboro for Brooklyn cafe and bar Sauvage

Sauvage is a Brooklyn-based cafe and cocktail bar from Joshua Boissy and Krystof Zizka, the duo behind Maison Premiere. It is described as being reflective of the staple establishments of New York and Paris, and has a menu of French-accented American dishes. This is also reflected throughout its interior design, a mix of mosaic flooring, brass rimmed circular tables, bent wood furniture, ornamental mirrors, brass fixtures and fittings, and a curved bar with a white marble top.

Sauvage’s visual identity, designed by New York studio Triboro, mirrors some of the period European and American interior influences, whilst working in individual personality through colour and form. This runs across business cards, menus, coffee cups, coasters and tote bags, and included signage and web design.
