Brand identity and business cards for New York contemporary art gallery James Cohan by graphic design studio Project Projects

James Cohan is a contemporary art gallery with two locations in New York, one in Lower East Side and the other in Chelsea. Recent exhibitions have included work by artists such as Mernet Larsen, Fred Tomaselli and Beatriz Milhazes, with Philip Hanson and Omer Fast to follow later this year.

The gallery recently collaborated with American graphic design studio Project Projects to develop a new visual identity. This went on to include custom logotype, business cards, stationery and website, as well as print for the inaugural exhibition of early drawings and sculptures by artist Robert Smithson.

The Collection of A. Alfred Taubman by Franklyn, United States

Visual identity and four-volume catalogue for The Collection of A. Alfred Taubman by Brooklyn based graphic design studio Franklyn

The late A. Alfred Taubman was an American real estate billionaire, philanthropist and former owner and chairman of Sotheby’s, who had built a significant art collection, valued at around $500 million, that included works by Raphael, Kandinsky and Picasso, amongst many others.

Following Taubman’s death this year, and with the hope of restoring his image after a price-fixing conviction in 2002, Sotheby’s held a private auction of his collection. To mark this event New York based graphic design studio Franklyn created a visual identity system that draws attention to the high-profile nature of the artists and the artwork for sale, and would share some of the personal aesthetic sensitivities of their former owner. The project went on to include monogram, signage and brochure design.

Brand identity and package design for tea subscription service Teabox by graphic design studio Pentagram, United States

Teabox is an e-commerce tea business, established in 2012 and located at the heart of India’s tea-growing regions, that looks to revolutionise the experience of buying and enjoying one of the oldest drinks in history by bringing it directly to consumers. It is based on the popular monthly subscription model, and uses data science to match teas to subscriber’s personal tastes. Teabox worked with Pentagram partner Natasha Jen to develop a new brand identity, packaging system and website that would help establish it as a global brand.
