Brand identity and postcards by UK graphic design studio Karoshi for conscientious interior accessory business Thanda

Thanda is a luxury home accessory business bringing high-end artisanal products crafted by people in South Africa to the UK market. It does this with the intention of helping to support local communities, promoting ecological awareness and proving that sustainability does not have to compromise aesthetic.

Thanda worked with London based graphic design studio Karoshi to articulate and express this positioning and the quality of its products through a new brand identity that would run across stationery, business cards, tags, packaging, promotional materials and website. This included bespoke patterns, custom typography and photography, and detailed product information online.

A-TO-B by Stockholm Design Lab, Sweden

Brand Identity, print and signage for Scandinavian retailer and bag specialist A-TO-B by Stockholm Design Lab

A-TO-B is a retail destination dedicated to all things travel. It curates and sells smart practical products for the modern traveller, complimented by insight and advice. Whether it be an around the world trip or the daily commute, a preference for small private labels or well-known bag brands, A-TO-B has it covered.

Venue Retail Group—owners of A-TO-B and over 150 shoe, bag and accessory stores throughout Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden—approached Stockholm Design Lab to work on naming, strategy and brand identity, and to develop a new and refreshing retail experience.

Although this project went out towards the end of last year, Stockholm Design Lab have kindly been in touch with new images. These document the extent of the project, include shots of product cards, packaging and posters, and take a better look at the adaptable system that links these.

Åhléns Hem by Twenty-five Art House, Sweden

Sign design and wayfinding for Ahlens Hem by 25AH

Åhléns is a department store and one of Sweden’s leading retailers. It has locations in many of the cities across the country, with 18 in Stockholm alone, and also trades in neighbouring Norway. Åhléns has a significant history, beginning life as a mail-order business in 1899, and moving into low-cost retail in 1964. It now stocks up-market products across the beauty, fashion, home and media markets.

Scandinavian design studio Twenty-five Art House was commissioned to develop a new concept for Åhléns’ in-store communication and wayfinding across its Home department, and delivered a solution based around signage, patterns and custom typography with the intention of both guiding and inspiring.

Moomin & Moomin Shop by Bond, Finland

Packaging for Moomin Shop by graphic design studio Bond, Finland

The Moomins are characters from a book, picture book and comic book series created by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson. These were published in Sweden and Finland between 1945 and 1993. Alongside the comic strip, the characters have also featured in their own television series and film, and populate the theme park, Moomin World, on the Finnish island of Kailo. Today, the Moomins are an established brand with an international reach and an increasing license-based product portfolio that exists across a variety of categories.

Finnish graphic design studio Bond, who are fans of the Moomins, were hired t0 develop packaging for Moomin Shops across Finland, and establish brand guidelines for licensees and licensed products within the international fast moving consumer goods market.
