Helvetimart is a supermarket in the Swiss city of Lausanne. It offers a broad range of groceries and high-quality Swiss specialities sourced from across the country. The supermarket also holds daily tastings and workshops, has an informed staff and a tablet-based service the gives shoppers access to information on the Swiss cantons and their products. Drawing on regional flags and antique architecture, Mexican graphic design studio Anagrama developed a brand identity for Helvetimart that, through a strong favour for colour and form language, delivers significant impact for an independent store, draws a modern system from historic structure and touches upon the regionality of its products.

Hato by Allink, Switzerland

Brand identity, stationery and business cards for fine dining Asian restaurant Hato designed by Allink, Switzerland

Hato is a fine dining restaurant with locations in Zürich and further south in the resort town of St. Moritz. It has a menu of refined Asian cuisine, a rich interior design and a brand identity, created by Swiss graphic design studio Allink, inspired by the creativity of chef Nathan Dallimore. Allink describe their work for Hato as expressing playful and artistic qualities. This links a variety of printed collateral, which included stationery, menus and business cards, but also permeates interior, with the logo worked into partitions, table surfaces and window decals.

Bubu by Bob Design, Switzerland

Buchbinderei Burkhardt, now shortened to Bubu, is a family-owned binding specialist established in 1941. It is now run by third-generation family members and has locations in the Swiss cities of Zürich and Mönchaltorf.

Bubu provides consultancy and prototyping services, curates an extensive binding library of over 2000 books, and offers a wide variety of soft and hardcover binding techniques. These include the familiar and utilitarian such as comb, staple and glue, and extends to the more traditional crafted processes of thread, thread and knot, and lock stitch.

Bubu worked with London and Zürich based graphic design studio Bob Design to revise its visual identity and link digital and print based communications. Assets included logotype, business cards, envelopes, packaging, signage, vehicular graphics and web design. This post was updated 13/05/16 with a bunch of new project images.

Rendez-vous des créateurs 2014 by Marks

Visual identity and printed paper bags designed by Marks for material and print finish exhibition Rendez-vous des créateurs 2014

Rendez-vous des créateurs 2014 was an event that took place in September at experimental meeting, performance and exhibit space Flux Laboratory in the Swiss town of Carouge. The exhibition was an opportunity for those servicing the graphic design chain to show off finishes, materials and techniques under the title “onomatopoeia of printing”. Participants included silk screen printer Atelier Fuerm, binder Bubu, hot stamper H+M, material manufacturer Winter & Company and electro-static flocking specialist Bastcolor amongst others. The exhibition’s brand identity, which extended across invitations, flyers, posters, brochures, coasters, wine labels, shopping bags, signage and website, was developed by graphic design studio Marks.
