Brand identity by Studio South for Auckland-based architecture and interior business Verso

Verso is a small Auckland-based architecture and interiors business working within the residential and commercial sectors. Drawing on the oppositional nature of name and using a mix of simple typographical form, high-quality materials and print finish Studio South developed a new visual identity for Verso that is described as being both sophisticated and playful, whilst effectively working in some universal architectural principles. This links a variety of printed assets that included stationery, business cards, notepad and signage, with website soon to launch.

Hicks designed by Face, Mexico

Brand identity and envelopes with block foil and blind deboss detail designed by Face for Mexican real estate group Hicks.

Hicks is described by Face, the graphic design studio behind its new visual identity, as a new-generation real estate group with big ambitions, and who are currently in the process of building a state-of the art mixed-use project with architect Fernando Romero in the Mexican city of Chihuahua.

Face were commissioned to develop a brand identity system that would differentiate three speciality businesses; Hicks Capital, Hicks Development and Hicks Solutions, but would also have a commonality that reflected their collaborative approach to projects. Within this system, these companies are differentiated by colour and form but united by materiality, typography and layout across stationery and business cards.

Fathom Architects by dn&co, United Kingdom

Branding for UK based Fathom Architects by dn&co.

Fathom is a new UK based architectural practice, set up by Justin Nicholls, former partner at Make Architects and Foster+Partners, that draws beautiful and logical buildings from complex briefs, and within the context of sensitive sites. Fathom Architects worked with dn&co. to develop a visual identity that would encapsulate this focus as well as their curiosity and use of technology.

BP&O breaks from convention, with a double feature. Both are small and restrained projects that express relevant and thoughtful concepts in simple ways, alongside bright highlight colour, conservative but well-set type and good quality material choice and print finish. The National Insti­tute of Dra­matic Art by Maud, Australia

Black block foiled corporate handbook designed by Maud for The National Insti­tute of Dra­matic Art

The National Institute of Dramatic Art is a national education and training organisation for the performing arts in Australia, and is respons­ible for developing the talents of some of the country’s biggest stars. With the continued demo­crat­isa­tion of per­form­ance through digital platforms such as Youtube, and concerns that this had the potential to undermine NIDA’s con­ser­vatoire approach, NIDA pursues a tech­nical mas­tery as a way to preserve a high stand­ard of education.

NIDA looked to design studio Maud to help redesign its visual identity system in a way that help a world-renowned organisation maintain its international presence, prominence and authority within an increasingly accessible field, and broaden its appeal beyond the dramatic arts to include per­form­ance skills across a wide range of industries. The project included logotype, signage, prospectus, business cards, brand guidelines and brochure.
