Mister crafts all natural, artisanal and seasonal ice cream from its location on Mainland Street, Vancouver, using a liquid nitrogen technique that rapidly freezes products to create less ice crystals and air compared to traditional ice creams. This gives Mister’s ice cream a richer, creamier and denser quality that does not require stabilisers or fillers.
Mister worked with local graphic design studio Brief to develop a visual identity that would run across and unite signage, packaging and business cards. Taking their cues from the modern production technique, and in opposition to a premises with a rough interior of exposed brick and a history dating back to 1912, Brief created a reductive but impactful brand expression based around a pentagon motif and a bright blue ink.

Meg’s is a tailoring service, established by Megan Kenny, that began as a single store on Garfield Street in 1995. Meg’s now has two locations in Auckland, New Zealand, provides a broad range of services; from hems to full garment design, and works on large projects with high-end designers and labels such as Hugo Boss, Prada and Gucci, and on smaller jobs from High Street drop-ins.
Megan Kenny has worked in Sydney and London, has decades of experience in dressmaking, fashion and interior design, and has built a team of tailors, seamstresses, designers and machinists, many of whom she has trained herself. Megan and her team are passionate and respectful and pride themselves on their attention to detail and customer care.
With the intention of better communicating the team’s ongoing ambition to deliver quality work and exceptional service, Megan worked with Auckland-based Studio South to evolve Meg’s brand identity and re-introduce it to the market in a fresh and contemporary way. This was achieved through universal motif and colour palette, the materiality of uncoated papers and glossy finishes, and a modern restraint. Alongside digital presence and art direction, Studio South also provided Meg’s Tailoring with a variety of printed assets, these included branded t-shirts and carrier bags, signage, decals and business cards.

The International is a new apartment complex, located not far from Auckland’s Albert Park, with 88 luxury residencies. The building, a repurposed former office, is currently being transformed into an iconic structure with a contemporary exoskeleton of elongated beams. To promote the building and help sell apartments off-plan, the graphic designers at Studio South worked with the developer behind The International to create a holistic brand identity and marketing package.
Alongside a variety of printed assets, which included brochures, stationery, business cards, event invitations and floorplans, Studio South were also involved in the spatial design of an apartment showroom, informed by the earthy tones of Rufus Knight’s interior design and taking their cues from luxury brands. This post features some extensive specification insight so be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the article.
