The Spence is an independent cafe bakery founded by Katherine Lockwood and located on Stoke Newington Church Street, London. The stores identity, designed by Joe Hinder working at Hike Design, blends a classic serif logo-type, a striking bright orange, black and cream colour palette, the tactile qualities of a stamp, canvas bag and uncoated substrate with a full bleed illustrated shop front across the business cards that together deliver a sense of tradition and locality but with a contemporary simplicity and functionality.
Chi is a new brand of coconut water launched this week to the retail trade at the Food and Drink Expo taking place at the NEC in Birmingham. London based design agency Leahy Brand Design (LBD) was responsible for creating the brand’s identity, packaging solution and exhibition stand. Julie James has kindly provided BP&O with an insight into the product and design process on behalf of LBD.
SMETS is a luxury department store located in the heart of Brussels (with two more locations across Luxembourg) with over 3.500 square metres of fashion, design, art, food and beauty. Following last December’s BP&O review of the SMETS identity, independent design agency Coast has recently published some further images outlining how this new visual identity has been executed across a wider variety of collaterals and touch-points.
