Stevenson Systems by Socio Design, United Kingdom

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Logo and business cards by London-based Socio Design for space accounting specialist Stevenson Systems

Stevenson Systems is an American business that specialises in ‘space accounting’, an industry that measures architectural spaces using a variety of laser scanning and measuring devices, goes on to classify areas within larger spaces and produces reports and offers consultation on how to draw the most value from these.

Stevenson Systems pride themselves on their ability to add value, rather than just delivering data, and providing their clients with an array of services that look at the complete lifecycle of a building, from purchase through development and finally to sale. The company is a leader in its field, a position it has held since its foundation in 1986, however, its brand identity fell short articulating this authority amongst a crowd of newer competitors.

London-based Socio Design recently worked with Stevenson Systems to develop a brand identity that would counter the perception that they just measured buildings and would communicate an authority. The studio was responsible for strategy, logo and iconography design, stationery, brand guidelines, art direction and website, both design and build. Underpinning this rebrand is a new mission statement “Discovering Hidden Value”.

Branding and illustrated and gold foiled business cards by Singapore-based graphic design studio Bravo for modern Cantonese kitchen Full of Luck Club 福乐

Full of Luck Club 福乐 and Bao Bar is a combined Cantonese restaurant and takeaway, located in Holland Village, Singapore, serving authentic Chinese comfort food. The restaurant was created by the team behind Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant at Sheraton Towers Singapore, and has a menu that combines timeless plates such as roast meats, fresh noodles and dim sum with more contemporary items such as Chinese-inspired salads, craft beers and speciality ‘baos’. This meeting of modernity and timelessness plays out across the restaurant’s brand identity, designed by Bravo, in the meeting of dynamic lettering, a pastel colour palette and a gold block foil print finish.

Helbers by Only, United Kingdom

Logotype and black block foiled tags by Leeds-based graphic design studio Only for Parisian menswear label Helbers

Helbers is a Parisian menswear label created by Paul Helbers, the former Head of Menswear at Maison Margiela and ex-Menswear Director at Louis Vuitton. The label has a carefully curated lookbook of garments and footwear with an unpolished elegance, and feature a subtle contrast of materials. Helbers has secured early acclaim for his AW16 collection, and is due to appear in stores around the world in the coming weeks.

Paul worked with Leeds-based graphic design studio Only to create a brand identity that would clearly express the meeting of what the studio describe as the contemporary and the antiquarian, craftsmanship and utility. This is visually articulated in the simplicity and materiality of identity, type contrast and a limited colour palette that runs across a variety of assets. These included tags, labels, stationery, business cards, hangers, packaging, lookbook and responsive website.
