Clifton Arms designed by Wash

Logo, menus and stationery with copper spot and foil print treatments and emboss detail designed by Wash for the Clifton Arms Hotel.

Clifton Arms is a hotel, restaurant, bar and brasserie situated within a grade two listed building at the heart of the UK seaside town of Lytham. The hotel has a rich heritage dating back to 1794 which includes a location change from Clifton Street to West Beach in 1840 and the reception of high profile guests such as Winston Churchill and The Beatles. Following a recent renovation, Preston based creative agency Wash, drawing inspiration from the hotel’s past, developed a new visual identity that includes a revised coat of arms, weighty slab serif logo-type and a warm copper colour palette.

Privacy International is a UK based non-profit organisation established in 1990 to monitor the security intrusions of governments and business, increase the awareness of data protection concerns and establish ‘new forms of privacy advocacy’ at an international level. Made up of computer professionals, academics, lawyers, journalists and human rights campaigners the organisation has worked on initiatives across fifty countries and is funded by British privacy activist Simon Davies.

Design Studio This Is Real Art, now Paul Belford Ltd, worked with Privacy International to develop a new visual identity. The result blends a redacted visual device, synonymous with restricted government intelligence, a simple perforated material treatment, patterns and webcam stickers to make global security relevant and understandable at a personal level.

Inspiron is a PC, laptop and all-in-one range from electronics manufacturer and on-line retailer Dell. UK and US based multidisciplinary design studio Dowling Duncan, now Mucho, working in collaboration with Dell’s Visual Identity and Brand Experience team, developed a new packaging system for the Inspirion range confidently mixing technological cues, functionality and a craft-like aesthetic.
