Vitra is a Swiss furniture manufacturer that holds the European license to many of Herman Miller’s ranges. It has a large and diverse catalogue of contemporary home and office furnishings, furniture for public spaces and timeless classics by notable designers such as Charles & Ray Eames, George Nelson and Verner Panton.

After years of admir­ing Vitra’s range of fur­ni­ture, Scandinavian graphic design studio BVD recently had the oppor­tu­nity to develop a new pack­ag­ing system for the company.

Bubu by Bob Design, Switzerland

Buchbinderei Burkhardt, now shortened to Bubu, is a family-owned binding specialist established in 1941. It is now run by third-generation family members and has locations in the Swiss cities of Zürich and Mönchaltorf.

Bubu provides consultancy and prototyping services, curates an extensive binding library of over 2000 books, and offers a wide variety of soft and hardcover binding techniques. These include the familiar and utilitarian such as comb, staple and glue, and extends to the more traditional crafted processes of thread, thread and knot, and lock stitch.

Bubu worked with London and Zürich based graphic design studio Bob Design to revise its visual identity and link digital and print based communications. Assets included logotype, business cards, envelopes, packaging, signage, vehicular graphics and web design. This post was updated 13/05/16 with a bunch of new project images.

The Factory by Ghost, United States

Branding for Oklahoma City fashion store The Factory graphic design studio Ghost

The Factory is an Oklahoma based fashion retailer, inspired by the energy and attitude of the people of Manhattan, Los Angeles and Tokyo, that mixes streetware with high fashion garments, shoes and accessories. Think ripped jeans, vintage purse and Louboutins. American graphic design studio Ghost worked with The Factory to develop a brand identity concept, which went on to include logotype and logo applied to business cards, tags, packaging and signage, underpinned by the concept of the store and compliments its interior design.
