Freies Theater Hannover offers a diverse programme of classical and contemporary theatre, multimedia productions, musical experiments, modern dance and educational initiatives for both children and adults that take place across many of Hannover’s independent theatres.
Bureau Hardy Seiler, working in collaboration with Created by Monkeys, was recently commissioned by the organisation to develop a new brand identity solution that would unite the diverse programme and the variety of locations under one unified visual system, deliver a recognisable visual impact across the city and convey some of the emotion of live performance. This was achieved through the juxtaposition of sans-serif and serif typography, bright geometric illustrative detail, black ink and unprinted white space across a stationery set and a bi-monthly mailer that doubles as a poster.
Frederik Laux is an award winning German portrait, fashion, lifestyle and editorial photographer with a client list that includes Alliance and Mercedes-benz. His new visual identity, developed by Stuttgart based design agency LSDK, takes a competently spaced but generic condensed, sans-serif logotype and executes it as a redacted three-line mark die cut by hand across a print solution that mixes the cool and dark greys of uncoated unbleached boards, a pastel green paper, bright fluorescent stickers that cut diagonally through the stationery, the quality and authoritative weight of a letterpress business card with hand painted edges and the unusual detail of a portfolio case with a strap made from bike inner tubes.
Anni Hall is a Sydney-based writer, editor, hair and makeup artist, and former online beauty and bridal editor for Vogue Australia. Her visual identity, created by German design studio Dittmar, unites fine organic detail, bold form and the tactile, craft qualities of a weighty substrate and deboss print finish, to create an unusual and distinctive union of natural beauty and typographical efficiency.
