Bruce Juice is a 100% raw, cold pressed, fruit juice and plant milk brand new to the Australian market. It launched this year with five juice and vegetable blends, Red, Redder, Orange, Greener, Golden and Nutter, an almond milk, and a packaging and visual identity treatment by New Zealand based graphic design studio Marx Design.
Using a mix of illustration and texture, loose hand drawn logotype and custom typography, bright but natural colour and plenty of white space, and by balancing visual impact and communicative clarity, familiarity and originality, Marx Design helped Bruce Juice to realise their desire to establish a contemporary and playful brand personality that would also secure a strong health-focused market positioning.
The Beginnings is a Latvian raw food and ingredients business creating and sourcing a variety of mueslis, jams, honeys and spices from around the world. Developed by multi-disciplinary design firm Asketic, The Beginning’s brand identity and packaging treatment goes all in for handcraft and contrast, mixing a variety of patterns and images informed by the origins of each ingredient to establish an ever changing and easily expandable set of assets. Each pattern is rendered with a loose authenticity, clearly drawn and painted by hand with a good mix of pen and watercolour work, lots of brush detail, a simple but bright colour palette, earthy material textures and a white panel that frames information set in a distinctive sans-serif.
The Primal Kitchen is a UK based health food brand founded by nutritionist Suzie Walker with the intention of making the paleo lifestyle, a modern nutritional plan based on the presumed diet of Paleolithic humans, easier and more accessible. The Primal Kitchen commissioned design studio Midday to create a visual identity for the brand which would extend across the packaging for its cold pressed snack bar range and its website. By mixing now conventional but effective natural design cues such a typographic simplicity and a limited pastel colour palette, with a solid illustrative character drawn from the brand’s paleo inspiration the solution achieves both a familiarity and distinction.
