Mere by Bibliothèque, United Kingdom

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Brand identity and inlaid menu covers designed by Bibliothèque for Monica Galetti's new London restaurant Mere

Mere–pronounced Mary–is a modern two-storey restaurant and bar, located in London’s Fitzrovia, developed by chef Monica Galetti and sommelier David Galetti, working in collaboration with Westbury Street Holdings.

The restaurant has a menu of simple dishes made from seasonal produce using classic techniques, and influenced by the French and South Pacific heritage of David and Monica, respectively. It also features a warm interior of rich material detail and pattern, created by Softroom.

Mere’s brand identity, developed by London-based design studio Bibliothèque, brings these interior details together and draws a sense of refinement, craft and character from the intersection of materials and the use of unusual typographic form across menus, receipt holders, business cards, cloakroom tags and signage.

Yumn by Filthymedia, United Kingdom

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Logo and menu design featuring Colorplan paper by Brighton-based Filthymedia for Boxpark Croydon's casual luxury restaurant Yumn

Yumn is a casual luxury restaurant located within Croydon’s Boxpark, a pop-up mall for independent and global fashion and lifestyle stores, cafes and restaurants, housed within converted shipping containers. This included menus and business cards, window graphics and signage.

Sant Francesc by Mucho, Spain

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Brand identity by graphic design studio Mucho for Spanish 5-star hotel Sant Francesc.

Sant Francesc is a 5-star hotel located in the Placa Sant Francesc, beside the Church of the Templarios, within the city of Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The hotel is set inside the walls of a restored historical landmark built in a neoclassical style during the 19th century and has 42 rooms and suites. Some of these rooms include wood-beamed ceilings, original frescos and moldings but also feature modern renovation, furnishings and interior design.

Drawing on the symbol of the Templarios, and taking inspiration from the colours and textures of the island, design studio Mucho developed a brand identity for the hotel that conveys something of its modern urban interior, its history and location. This comes through in type and marque, colour and pattern, and in the variety and combination of materials across brochures, stationery, business cards, menus and signage.
