Bombonería Pons is a family owned Barcelona based business, established in 1960, dedicated to producing the finest handcrafted chocolates. With a desire to engage with a younger consumer Bombonería Pons worked with international graphic design studio Mucho to develop a brand identity that would be sensitive to its traditional values and history yet give it a contemporary appeal. This extended across packaging, brochure, stationery, business cards and print communication.

Tenderloin Museum by Mucho, United States

Brand identity, t-shirts and tote bags for Tenderloin Museum by graphic design studio Mucho

The Tenderloin Museum tells the story of, and celebrates, the people and rich history of the Tenderloin district, a 31 block region of San Francisco. The museum’s permanent exhibition covers the area’s rebuilding, from 1906, following the great earthquake, until the present, and captures its diversity. It is a neighbourhood that has been filled with, what Mucho, the graphic design studio behind the museum’s visual identity describe rather romantically as, immigrants and iconoclasts, artists and activists, sinners and saints. It is a place known for “girls, gambling and graft” but equally for its cultural icons, these have included the Grateful Dead, Miles Davis and Dashiell Hammett.

Mucho were responsible for creating the museum’s brand identity, signage and merchandise, which extended to t-shirts, coasters, cups, mugs, maps, tote bags and posters.

Branding for Tina Frey Designs by graphic design studio Mucho

Tina Frey is an American homeware designer with a studio in San Francisco. She is inspired by the fluid lines of the sea, the curves and contours of nature, objects picked up while traveling, and the translucent colour of ice lollies and jelly beans. The design of each of her products—which include plates, bowls and utensils—is rooted in simplicity and functionality. These are sculpted by hand in clay, cast in colour in small batches, then sanded and finished by hand. This process gives each object a high-quality and uniquely crafted character.

Drawing on the organic shapes and hand crafted nature of the range, graphic design studio Mucho created a new visual identity for Tina Frey with a soft and sculpted quality—in form, colour and texture—and a contemporary restraint, while the use of brighter colour introduces contrast, a conviviality and communicative breadth. This links brochure, note cards, business cards and posters.
