Casa Virginia is a restaurant and culinary project in Mexico City, created by chef Mónica Patiño, that mixes the highest quality cuisine and meticulous processes with the familiarity of eating at home. This fusion of restaurant quality and easiness is perhaps most acutely manifested throughout its interior design, a space that juxtaposes the modesty and simplicity of wooden and basketweaved furniture alongside the ornate cornice and sculpted detail of the walls.

Savvy were recently commissioned to create a brand identity for the restaurant, which included logo, stationery, menu and sign design, that would resonate well with Habitación 116’s distinctive interior, be informed by Mónica Patiñ’s philosophy and honours her processes. This was achieved through the contemporary reinterpretation of what Savvy describes as the traditional graphic language popular in Mexico during the 1920s and an attention to detail.

Packaging designed by Savvy for premium craft beer label Finísima

Finísima is the latest ale to emerge from the independent Mexican beer brewing category and is described as being for both those unaccustomed with the world of artisanal beer and the connoisseur.

The ale’s packaging treatment, created by Mexican design studio Savvy, reflects its artisanal origin “without sacrificing the reach and reception of more commercial brands” by combining familiar craft aesthetics with those of an established premium nature.

Puebla 109 designed by Savvy

Brand identity and packaging by Savvy for art, design and gastronomy experience Puebla 109

Puebla 109 is a three floor 20th century townhouse, located in the Roma Norte colonia of Mexico City, “where art, design and gastronomy converge” in the form of an evolving space utilised as a place to work in the morning, as a restaurant to eat lunch in the afternoon and as a bar to have cocktails in the evening.

Puebla 109’s new brand identity—which includes a number of different logos, packaging and print, stationery and menus created by design studio Savvy—establishes a strong, on-trend and crafted sensibility through hand drawn typography, uncoated materials, stamp-based print finishes and punched tape label detail.
