Föllinge is a natural and organic skincare brand named after the small village in the north of Sweden where each of its products are manufactured. Design studio Amore recently worked with Föllinge to develop a new brand identity and packaging solution for its diverse range of face creams, moisturisers, deodorants and ointments. Inspired by Nordic nature, Amore brought to the forefront Föllinge’s unique knowledge and expertise, handcrafted production processes, origin and authenticity, by juxtaposing the traditional amber glass tones and clinical effectiveness associated with a lab environment and the craft of a calligraphic past through a logotype based on Veljovic Black, alongside contemporary structural choices, bright highlights, a recent and utilitarian mono-spaced sans-serif, logo with an organic container and a longitude, latitude and date detail.
Miinus is kitchen created by Finnish furniture manufacture Puustelli. As the name suggests, Miinus was developed around the philosophy of reduction, the process of removing superfluous elements to leave only the minimum, most functional aspects intact. Helsinki based design studio Bond where commissioned by Puustelli to develop a brand identity for the kitchen that would extend across stationery, print, retail and exhibition spaces. By utilising uncoated and unbleached materials, an ink economy, a bold fact based typographic and iconographic approach alongside a more personal hand written script and photography, Bond’s solution effectively conveys the themes of robustness, lifestyle, high quality, natural material use and functionality with a communicative precision.

This month’s highlights included a new brand identity solution by Band for The Franklin Boutique Hotel, Moffitt.Moffitt’s work for online linen retailer In Bed and Mucho’s visual identity for business leadership consultant Coma. However, there were five projects that really stood out for me this month which have made it into BP&O’s top five, a feature that brings together what I believe to be the most interesting for another opportunity to be seen and shared.
