F. Whitlock & Sons is a New Zealand based producer of pickles and sauces with a heritage that dates back to 1877, a heritage that over the last century had disappeared from the packaging. Design studio Marx, in collaboration with running with scissors, sort to bring back and celebrate this with a mix of copywriting wit and illustrative authenticity based around Fred Whitlock’s love of hunting, an approach taken to tap into the ‘dormant frontier huntsman and mischievous child within’, and establish a more contemporary and emotive brand character set within the context of a significant history.

Packaging with bold tetrimino detail created by Mousegraphics for Bau Building Materials

Bau recently commissioned Greek multidisciplinary design agency Mousegraphics to develop a new packaging solution for their building material range that would convey construction in a simple, modern, distinctive way to both professionals and hobbyists. Taking inspiration from the video game Tetris, Mousegraphics created a striking packaging solution that utilises the iconic four block form of Tetriminos and a distinctive fluorescent ink print treatment to neatly resolve the themes of individual creativity and commercial construction in a contemporary way.

Taiwan High Mountain Tea by Victor Design

Packaging design for Taiwan High Mountain Tea created by Victor Design

Victor Design have recently completed the packaging for Taiwan High Mountain Tea, a range of maple, bamboo, cedar, plum, pine and lily infused teas that have their origins in the high-altitude mountain top estates of Taiwan. Victor’s approach neatly captures provenance with a three fold fusion of distinctive mountain silhouettes, flora and indigenous mountain birds illustrated with fantastic level of detail by hand using ink that quickly establishes a clear sense of craft.
