Design agency The Company You Keep (TCYK) have recently finished working with bartender Dave Kerr on the naming, branding, collateral design and signage for The Beaufort, a themed dive bar located on Melbourne’s Rathdowne St. The agency’s visual identity solution, a combination of a quirky, well rendered, bespoke logo-type – built from unusual but original uppercase characters inspired by iron dock cleats and American sporting insignia of the 50’s and 60’s – set along a classic curved baseline and executed with a more recent single consistent line weight and rounded terminals.

Alongside a neat anchor monogram, type heavy collateral layouts and retro imagery -with an on-trend watery blue tint and a red overprint treatment across a simple white substrate – delivers a distinctive and nautical personality with a sporting undertone and a contemporary simplicity.

Jamsheed For Bentley by Cloudy Co.

Melbourne-based design studio Cloudy Co. have recently developed the wine label design for a limited edition collection by Jamsheed created exclusively for award winning Surrey Hills restaurant Bentley.

Based around a halftone illustrative interpretation of traditional Persian patterns alongside a tactile thermographic ink process and utilitarian typography, Cloudy Co.’s design solution delivers a really love sense of detail within detail, texture and colour. It transforms the geometric into the organic through contemporary technique infusing the label with a rich depth and density that resonates well with the often complex flavour profiles of wine and the art and craft nature of its production, while also conveying the modern philosophies and interior design of the restaurant.

Expatrius Estate designed by Inhouse

Packaging designed by Inhouse for wine label Expatrius Estate

Expatrius is a limited edition range of wines created from grapes grown on the eastern end of Waiheke Island, New Zealand, by winemaker Luc Desbonnets. The wine’s label and case, created by print and digital design agency Inhouse, contrast the fine detail and traditional heraldic cues of a hand-etched illustrative crown, a gold block foil emboss and tactile substrate alongside geometric, abstract letter-forms, solid fills and a striking monochromatic colour palette to communicate the heritage, high quality, craft and exclusivity of the wine and a very distinctive and contemporary brand character.
