This first edition of LogoArchive in print was conceived, designed and sent to the printers for quotation within a day. It was inspired by a panel discussion that took place the day before at Somerset House as part of the exhibition Print! Tearing It Up. Today’s zine format and the revival of the independent publishing spirit of the past is a provocation. It is an opportunity to further the practice of research, archival and dissemination beyond the book. A chance to investigate the potential of both individual object and its context within an ongoing project.
This first edition is a compact 10 pages printed on Colorplan Ebony 175gsm with eight passes of white and finished with black staples, it is a small first step but with ambitions to grow into a compelling and accessible series.

The Best Awards is an annual celebration of interactive, graphic, product and spacial design work from New Zealand and Australia, run by The Designer’s Institute. This year’s event will take place on Friday 6th October at Auckland’s Viaduct Events Centre where winning studios will be awarded a Gold Pin for best in category, a Supreme Pin for best in discipline or a Purple Pin for those considered to have lifted the bar of design.
Other awards include The John Britten Black Pin, which will be given to an individual for their leadership, vision and achievements nationally and internationally, and The Designer’s Institute of New Zealand Black Pin for Outstanding Achievement. This will be awarded to a member who has made a lasting and valuable contribution to the design profession and design culture in New Zealand. The judging process and criteria can be seen here.
To coincide with the publication of the finalists BP&O looks back at those projects reviewed on the site and up for awards in October. Finalists include Re, Frost, Akin, Studio Brave and Richards Partners. Congratulations from BP&O to all the studios up for awards.

April’s highlights included Midday’s packaging for fermented raw food company Hurly Burly and Here Design’s brand identity work for London-based for catering company Rocket. However, there were five projects that stood out, and have made it into BP&O’s Best Of Series.
This feature brings together some of the most thoughtful and distinctive projects published on BP&O each month for another opportunity to be seen and shared. These typically balance a strong concept with a compelling aesthetic and clear communicative intention that appropriately plays with form, colour, type and layout, as well as material, texture, image and print finish.
Throughout April, BP&O expanded on its collections series, as another way to jump through to older posts on the site. New additions include Black & White, Art Galleries & Exhibitions, Branding & Interiors, and Menu Boards.
