The Midday Motivator is an Australian business and communication lead lunchtime presentation aimed at enhancing and fostering relationships between employees created and hosted by former TV producer Julie-Ann Black. The event’s identity, designed by Studio Verse, captures the dynamic personality of the presenter and a constructive, incremental approach to business development.
“Creating the identity and visual language to assist her sessions, Studio Verse crafted the marque from the simple symbol of steps formed by the logotype. Like her presentations, the marque itself is flexible and can grow and expand in a completely organic and unscripted manner.” – Studio Verse
While these presentations take place at midday it is good to see that Studio Verve avoided the generic clock reference and opted for a more minimal and abstract double ‘m’ form derived from the name/logo-type and the idea of a straightforward step by step approach. This more intelligent and modern direction helps to move it away from the frequently chaotic visual communication methods of the industry and expresses a sense of quality and authority. The animation reinforces the core step idea while also referencing some retro screen wipes that tie it nicely to Julie-Ann’s career in television and add a touch of character to the minimal aesthetic. The typographical choice of Helvetica compliments the simplicity of the logo-mark well and while there is a slight lack of anthropomorphic communicative or interactive traits the overall result conveys the open and clear nature of the presentations.
