El Pintor is a high-quality tequila and mezcal brand said to have been handcrafted by the world’s second certified maestro tequilero. El Pinto’s approach intends to create perfectly equilibrated spirits through the intersection of science and artistry. This artistry forms the basis of El Pinto’s graphic identity and packaging design developed by Anagrama. This is characterised by colour blocking, tapered bottle, distinctive screw cap and irregular label arrangement.

With a desire to stand out, and in response to the extensive saturation of heritage-related visual cues throughout the German beer market, brewery St. ERHARD worked outside of the country with Swedish studio Bedow to develop a modern graphic identity for three of its brews. Farmer, Mayflower and Saison are premium beers, each of which are crafted, brewed and bottled by St. Erhard in the Bamberg area of Northern Bavaria.
Bedow’s work is characterised by a strong use of contrast, a graphic simplicity and immediacy. This can be seen in the meeting of curvy traditional structure and rectilinear labelling, in the mix of black ink, white substrate and colourful foiling, in the reductive typographical form of the range and the more conventional logotype of St. ERHARD, and finally, the systematic nature of the collection yet the irregularity and playful character of each label.

Agder Bryggeri is a well-regarded and historical name amongst breweries throughout Norway. It was first established in 1900 but was closed down in 1904 due to operational problems. Recently, the brewery has been resurrected as part of Norsk Bryggerier’s commitment to local beer brands, and is now sold throughout the Agder counties of southern Norway. As part of this resurrection Oslo-based design studio Frank delivered brand strategy, concept, visual identity and packaging design for Agder Bryggeri. Taking inspiration from the “de hvite byene” or “white towns”, and the sailing heritage of the region, the studio established a sea-breezy and minimal expression using the craft and windswept character and flourishes of a distinctive logotype, blue and green ink, white background and plenty of space.
