Brand identity and letterpress stationery for Pia Ulin Photography by The Studio, Sweden

Pia Ulin is a Swedish photographer, working between New York and Stockholm, who has built a considerable reputation from her daylight-only approach. This is said to infuse her images, which cover interior, lifestyle and still life, with a warm and natural quality.

As well as producing editorial photography for publications such as Dwell, Martha Stewart and Elle Decoration, Pia has also contributed images to the books Monochrome Home, Colourful with Lotta Agaton and Kinfolk Home, and has worked for high profile brands such as H&M Home, Ikea, Williams Sonoma and Anthropologie.

Following a recent move to New York, Pia worked with Scandinavian graphic design company The Studio to develop a new brand identity and website that would compliment and reflect her aesthetic, and function as a clean backdrop for presenting work. This went on to also include letterpress business cards, stationery set, portfolio postcards and box.

Brightly coloured business cards for publisher Bearleader Chronicle by The Studio, Sweden

Bearleader describes itself as being dedicated to seeking out spectacular events, simple pleasures, awe-inspiring landscapes, hidden gems, and regions where traditions are meticulously maintained. They share these with their readers through an online magazine, which also includes insight into the people they meet and places they come across, with the intention of inspiring others to follow in their footsteps and chart their own adventures.

Bearleader draws its name from the leading of the inexperienced on risky adventures and the rise of foreign travel in the 18th and 19th century, while its content addresses the current favour for slow living (diverse and fulfilling experiences over possessions). This is conveyed through a brand identity treatment of traditional serif typography, a varied colour palette and simple layouts created by Scandinavian graphic designers The Studio. This extended across business cards, stationery, bookmarks and Bearleader’s online magazine.

Branding for Stockholm based Netsurvey by The Studio

Netsurvey provides organisations with employee and customer relation evaluation services using a precise, individualised and proprietary set of tools, and then helps to implement change with the intention of enhancing employee engagement, strengthening leadership and improving employer branding. Netsurvey works across a variety of sectors, for both small and large businesses and has grown to become one of Sweden’s leading consultants within the industry.

In response to what was felt to be an increasingly dated visual identity, one that failed to convey the warmth, engagement and innovative spirit that characterises the company, Netsurvey commissioned Stockholm based graphic design agency The Studio to create a new system that would communicate these key qualities but also their position as industry leaders through differentiation. This was achieved using a bright colour palette, custom typography, monolinear iconography and personable photography, and included business cards, stationery, print communication, tote bags, pens, and website.
