Branding for Biber Architects designed by Spin

Biber Architects is the New York based practice of teacher, author, architect and former Pentagram partner James Biber. Biber is made up of a tightly organized, highly experienced, and efficient team that have been producing design-led work—where others are process-focused or ideologically orientated—for more than 25 years.

The practice was conceived as a place to tackle architectural work from a fresh perspective, one that can respond to an industry that continues to experience significant change brought on by the personal computer, Internet ubiquity, rapid prototyping, instant and real-time communications, and the separation of design and production. Projects have included the Harley-Davidson Museum, the Fashion Center Needle and Button, and the Glass House Visitors Centre.

Biber’s visual identity, created by UK based graphic design studio Spin and which included logotype, business cards, stationery and website design, is described as having a playful structure and an economy of expression that make a connection with the philosophies of the practice.

O designed by Folch, Spain

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Visual identity by Folch for Barcelona based visual communications business O

O is a Barcelona based studio made up of, and representing, a collective of uniquely talented illustrators, photographers, directors and producers creating visual and editorial content. The studio supports the singularity of each artist by avoiding a homogeneous style and granting each a production capacity that does not make a distinction between personal projects and commercial jobs. While providing insight into each of these, O’s website also functions as a regularly updated platform for debate and enquiry into the communications industry.

Director Luis Cerveró worked with Spanish graphic design studio Folch to develop a visual identity system for O. Based around spray-painted graphic device, responsive grid-based layouts and Monotype’s Neue Haas Unica across digital and print environments, Folch’s approach establishes an adaptable framework from which to bring together changeable and diverse content online and also extends to business cards and stationery.

From Babies With Love by Paul Belford Ltd, United Kingdom

Visual identity and illustration designed by Paul Belford Ltd. for organic baby clothing business From Babies With Love

From Babies With Love is an organisation that sells organic baby clothes, blankets and accessories, as well as a range of greetings cards online. The money raised from the sale of these goes to SOS Children’s Villages, a scheme that supports babies who have lost parents to war, famine, disease or poverty, by placing them with families and within communities that are safe and stable.

London based Paul Belford Ltd. worked with From Babies With Love to develop a brand identity treatment that, through a simple postmark device and a series of animal collages created from recycled postal materials, finds a way to bridge online shopping and the aid sent abroad, and draws a playful and distinctive character from utility. This runs across envelopes, business cards, tags and website. This post was updated June 2016 and October 2017 with new images.
