The Wedding Belle by Ghost

Oklahoma City based design studio Ghost have recently completed the visual identity for the The Wedding Belle, the ‘elegant and timeless’ wedding planning business of Robyn Martin. Designed to represent the modern bride, communicate style, confidence and expertise, Ghost created a solution that would match the caliber of Robyn’s craft by taking the elements of the existing mark, honour the original typeface and introduce a pastel colour palette and a gold foil detailing to achieve a “softness, warmth and a touch of formality.”
The flat pastel colour palette, bold white borders and the fine gold foil detailing of a well drawn two weight, broadly spaced uppercase sans-serif logotype is an incredibly simple and logo-centric combination but one that feels communicatively precise, effectively resolving contemporary craft, subtle fashion sensibilities and a professional, consistent high quality without forcing a specific wedding style. While bright and distinctive, the flat panels of colour, rather than event photography, appear as an open canvas for a breadth of individualised solutions, an element built upon on-line with a portfolio labelled by the first name of each bride. The only embellishment is the mark but this, like the stationery, is reduced down well to its most communicative form, rendered with a definite duality between bell and bride that is playful without undermining the other details.
