Lukas/Markus is a decade-long photographic project by Kalle Sanner shot with a large format camera and exploring the mirrored and connected chapels of Saint Lukas and Saint Markus designed by architect Sven Brolid. The structure was built during the 1960s, a period when Swedish functionalism was at its height, and is located in the Western Cemetery of Gothenburg.
The book, released May 2018 and co-published by ll’Editions and Blackbook Publications, exists in two versions. The first is an 82 page cloth-bound hardcover trade edition that measures 200 x 223 mm and the second is a special edition housed within a handmade clamshell box that includes an embroidered handkerchief and one of three c-prints signed and numbered by the photographer. Both of these books were designed by Scandinavian studio Lundgren+Lindqvist.

Arconvert, a division of the Fedrigoni Group, will be hosting Label Lab, The Forum for Label and Packaging Innovation, on May 17th at Priory Church on St. John’s Square, London. The event will celebrate the aesthetics and craftsmanship of labelling and packaging design, and will showcase the materials of Fedrigoni’s labelling division Arconvert has to offer. The evening will also include talks by Pablo Martín of Atlas, Andy Giddings from Here Design, and Xavier Bas from Xavier Bas Disseny.
Design studio TM worked with Arconvert to pull together speakers and deliver a visual identity for Label Lab. This included an invitation that pushes the material component of the event, but also emphasises its relationship and interaction with type, colour and form in branding and packaging. These graphical elements then function to establish a distinctive and memorable continuity between invitation, programme and event website.

Galerija Kranjčar is an art gallery, located at the heart of Zagreb, opened in 2006 to showcase the work of Croatian contemporary artists and function as hub for a variety of cultural activities. The gallery is a long and unique space, one that balances the modern and historic. This can be seen in the meeting of smooth white walls, concrete floor and pillars alongside exposed room-length solid wood beams. Legacy, space and a diversity of artwork is reflected within the gallery’s brand identity, developed by Bunch, in the choice of type, which links stationery, business cards, print communication, brochures, tote bags and soon to launch website, and in the use of colour, paper choice and print finish.
This post was updated in 2018 with a look at Bunch’s continued work for Galerija Kranjčar which included limited edition package design for Partenza, the video component of Renata Poljak’s installation at the gallery. Poljak’s work explores the global insecurities of contemporary society and the fragility of human existence. This is presented as projection, photo collages and production photographs inside the gallery, and outside through two laser-engraved USB keys, packaged within a custom box and alongside a certificate of authenticity.
