Dissabtes MACBA by Hey

Dissabtes MACBA (“MACBA’s Saturdays”) is a partnership between The Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA); an iconic architectural symbol and one of the city’s leading cultural institutions, and the Japanese fashion retailer UNIQLO who recently arrived in Barcelona, and due to open its second store this year.

The Dissabtes MACBA initiative offers free entry to the museum every Saturday evening, 4–8pm, and invites visitors to participate in a wide range of differential events and activities that will include workshops, concerts and performances, as well as an opportunity to meet some of the artists who have work on display. To mark the initiative, collaborative spirit, and serving to bring the UNIQLO brand into the local consciousness, Barcelona-based studio Hey was commissioned to create a campaign that represented the close relationship between MACBA and UNIQLO within the city’s centre. This is expressed through both form and colour language, in a striking and singular gesture, elevated by its repetition across a variety of different communicative modes and formats that included postersbanners, bus ads and digital screens throughout the museum.

BP&O Collections — Events & Exhibitions

A continually updated collection of some of the best graphic identity design work created for events, conferences and festivals, reviewed and published on BP&O. This post features work by Pentagram, Collins and Toko, and includes simple postcards and poster sets, and extends to those that cover signage, lanyards, t-shirts and tote bags.

Projects typically share a strong visual impact and a graphic immediacy in the contrast of colour and type, followed up with detail and information up close. Occasionally these diverge, employing a striking iconographic or illustrative approach, literal depictions and or those that are more abstract in their references. For the most part, these are rooted in a compelling concept such as Collins’ work for PopTech and Re’s graphic identity for the Sydney Design Festival. Sydney Design Festival by Re

Graphic identity design by Re for the Sydney Design Festival

Sydney Design Festival has been running for 20 years, making it one of the oldest design festivals in the world. It provides its visitors with an opportunity to understand design practice in all its forms, to bring to light problem, process and response, and to foster a closer connection with the designers and businesses helping to shape our collective futures. With a change in dates, moving the festival from September to March, placing amongst a busy cultural calendar, the festival worked with Re to develop a graphic identity that would allow it to stand out and announce its new Autumn arrival across a variety of digital and printed communications. These included a responsive website, event programs, flags, banners, posters, flyers, invitations and environmental graphics.
