Lunch & Recess is a video production company based in the small town of Charleston, South Carolina that develops TV spots, webmercials, brand films and webisodes for advertising agencies, PR companies and private business. Their visual identity, created by Fuzzco and based around a simple logo-type, neatly balances geometry, internal space and a shared single-line weight that binds box and type, to convey what looks like subtle technological qualities, a sense of structure, format and framing that is suitably reflective of L&R’s screen-work and perhaps a practical/pragmatic approach.

A number of different logo variations, including a monogram and roundel, offer variety and flexibility without appearing superfluous while a hand-stamped print treatment across the stationery gives it a more personal and craft-based finish.

A monochromatic colour palette and heavier line detailing and fills across their website frames L&R’s rich video content and capture some of their bold personality and style. The cropped and slightly saturated photography adds a retro-editorial, colourful and cheeky quality (also reflected through the websites easter eggs and cartoon introduction) that implies an appreciation for the past whilst conveying a friendly, playful and quirky personality alongside technical ability.

You’d be hard pressed to find a happier, friendlier lot of humanity. These old friends of Fuzzco came to us to redesign their identity and brand pieces and create a new website to show their work. We created a primarily black and white, versatile logo system that can act as a frame for their video content. Their business cards are always a stamp away. It was important to give the brand a fresh, friendly and edgy feel to match the personality of the guys behind it all.
