The largest companies in the world rely on QR codes for the successful management of their daily operations. Uniqode helps brands connect with customers in the physical world, the digital one and between the two. Koto visualised this through the metaphor of stitching, “demonstrating the joining together of two planes with a simple needle and thread.” The effect is to give the impression of the digital big picture at first glance, and the detailed material close up. Whether the metaphor is strictly readable is up for debate, and how well this is consistently realised (particularly the material effects) but the outcome is a clearly distinct system of asserts that all flow from this, including the new Uniqode logo, pixel-like at first, but then a close up cross stitch can be seen.
