In an increasingly crowded technological landscape, Dataforeningen (Norwegian: The Data Association) needed a logo and visual identity that would give it a stronger sense of recognition and belonging. As Norway’s only independent meeting place for technology enthusiasts the new logo, designed by Bielke & Yang, acts as an anchor for a broad and varied community. Its form balances the abstract and the familiar, a dynamic swirl and ‘D’ carries hints of millennial computer culture and enthusiasm without becoming nostalgic or pastiche. This sits within a system of neons and serif that speaks less of technology as industry, and rather, technology as culture, affording Dataforeningen a more open, playful and human expression.
