Meg’s Tailoring by Studio South, New Zealand

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Brand identity and postcards by Auckland-based Studio South for New Zealand tailoring service Meg's

Meg’s is a tailoring service, established by Megan Kenny, that began as a single store on Garfield Street in 1995. Meg’s now has two locations in Auckland, New Zealand, provides a broad range of services; from hems to full garment design, and works on large projects with high-end designers and labels such as Hugo Boss, Prada and Gucci, and on smaller jobs from High Street drop-ins.

Megan Kenny has worked in Sydney and London, has decades of experience in dressmaking, fashion and interior design, and has built a team of tailors, seamstresses, designers and machinists, many of whom she has trained herself. Megan and her team are passionate and respectful and pride themselves on their attention to detail and customer care.

With the intention of better communicating the team’s ongoing ambition to deliver quality work and exceptional service, Megan worked with Auckland-based Studio South to evolve Meg’s brand identity and re-introduce it to the market in a fresh and contemporary way. This was achieved through universal motif and colour palette, the materiality of uncoated papers and glossy finishes, and a modern restraint. Alongside digital presence and art direction, Studio South also provided Meg’s Tailoring with a variety of printed assets, these included branded t-shirts and carrier bags, signage, decals and business cards.

Hicks designed by Face, Mexico

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Brand identity and envelopes with block foil and blind deboss detail designed by Face for Mexican real estate group Hicks.

Hicks is described by Face, the graphic design studio behind its new visual identity, as a new-generation real estate group with big ambitions, and who are currently in the process of building a state-of the art mixed-use project with architect Fernando Romero in the Mexican city of Chihuahua.

Face were commissioned to develop a brand identity system that would differentiate three speciality businesses; Hicks Capital, Hicks Development and Hicks Solutions, but would also have a commonality that reflected their collaborative approach to projects. Within this system, these companies are differentiated by colour and form but united by materiality, typography and layout across stationery and business cards.

Erik Penser Bank by Bedow, Sweden

Opinion by Richard Baird.

Animated logo for Sweden's leading private banking firm Erik Penser Bank designed by Bedow, Stockholm

Erik Penser Bank provides its clients with independent financial advice and a high-level of personal service. While large banks do provide similar services, Erik Penser Bank is Sweden’s only dedicated private banking business.

Professionalism, experience and an individualised service practice are expressed by the bank’s new brand identity, created by Stockholm-based graphic design studio Bedow, through the personable and less corporate qualities of a monogram, which informs some distinctive pictograms, custom typeface, an earthy colour palette and some good quality papers, boards and print finishes. These are implemented across business cards, folders, forms and print communication.
